These numbers represent the average amount of training required to achieve each belt rank in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. They show how many training sessions and hours you might spend from blue belt to black belt, giving you a clear view of the commitment needed to progress through the ranks.
How Did We Calculate It?
We based our calculations on:
- Training Frequency: 3 sessions per week.
- Session Duration: 1.5 hours per session.

Average Time to Achieve Each Belt:
- Blue Belt: 2-4 years
- Purple Belt: 3-5 years
- Brown Belt: 5-6 years
- Black Belt: 8-15 years
We calculated the total sessions and hours by multiplying the average time to achieve each belt by the number of sessions per week and the duration of each session. Cumulative totals reflect the combined effort from the start of training.
